Denmark-based IO Interactive has announced the rebranding of Hitman 3 into an “assassination world” that aims to combine the entire trilogy under one banner. The company stated that this integration will simplify the purchasing process for new players, and Hitman World of Assassination will be the only option to play the titles.
With this project, IO Interactive looks to create an ever-expanding game that will constantly evolve and be the foundation for future Hitman games. Players will be able to access the titles that came out in the last seven years, Hitman 1, 2, and 3, by purchasing Hitman World of Assassination.
The game development firm indicated that existing Hitman 3 owners would be automatically upgraded to Hitman World of Assassination, which means they will receive Hitman 1 and 2 for free. The entire pack will include 21 destinations within one game.
The team shared this message, describing thoughts and comments on the project:
“We’re absolutely certain that these changes will have a hugely positive effect on existing players and new players alike. It will also make our lives a lot easier too, and there’s no doubting that. For many players, it will mean free content to enjoy. Between now and when these changes come into effect, we’ll be keeping a close eye on the reactions and questions that arise.”
IO Interactive noted that there will only be two products available for purchase for players: Hitman World of Assassination and Hitman World of Assassination Deluxe Edition. The company indicated that the launch will take place on January 26, 2023.
