Web gaming platform Kongregate has teamed up with blockchain gaming tech company Immutable X for a $40 million fund to give grants to developers making blockchain games for Kongregate.com.
Immutable, the owner of Gods Unchained, has a team specializing in blockchain games. The company has also developed Immutable X, an Ethereum-based Layer 2 (L2) scaling solution that enables blockchain game transactions to happen faster and with better energy efficiency.
The companies announced a $40 million fund on Kongregate.com consisting of an IMX token pool to be given as a grant to blockchain gaming integrations.
Kongregate.com will relaunch later this year to be the framework for blockchain games from both established and indie developers and host the next generation of gamers. Founded in 2006, Kongregate has a long history of developing and showcasing the experience of independent game developers.
With the launch of Kongregate.com for Web3 set to take place later this year, the company says the games industry will stay true to its roots in developer innovation, community development, and indie developer support.
In his statement, CTO of Kongregate Max Murphy gave the following words;
“With the relaunch of Kongregate.com for web3, we’re once again creating a destination unlike any other for developers and gamers to come together to discover, chat about and play games! As gamers ourselves who have long been dedicated to what made the original site so fun and special for millions of community members worldwide, we’re excited to reopen doors with new, sustainable technology that enables players to uniquely experience and be a part of the games they dedicate their time to.”
The company said that developers would leverage the end-to-end integration solution to ensure that every game on the platform is a fun and engaging experience for players. These solutions include blockchain SDK, game design and tokenomics consultations, and community growth services.
