New Indie Game ‘Footgun: Underground’ to Release in Late April

Turtle Knight Games, a young studio from Munich, is releasing its most recent game, “Footgun: Underground.” The indie title combines roguelike gameplay, pixel art graphics, and, perhaps most unusually, football.

In this game, the player takes on the role of an arena challenger who has to beat the enemies in a gladiatorial fight for freedom. You must defeat said enemies by using the mechanics of soccer and billiards combined, tossing your ball in a way so that it bounces around the map and knocking foes down. You will also get access to a rather detailed map, which would make you choose between which route to take as you embark on a journey of freeing yourself from the arena.

Key features that developers outline include:

  • Innovative action gameplay that combines roguelike and soccer with randomly generated pixel-art style runs.
  • Different underground biotopes, 14 post-apocalyptic enemy types, and unique boss monsters
  • Character upgrades, almost 20 different balls with various special properties, and more than 20 high-tech upgrades for strategic moves.

The game is released for PC on Steam on April 30th, 2024.
