Krafton has announced its results for the last quarter of 2021 and overall results for the fiscal year ending December 31, 2021. PUBG creator Krafton reported Q4 revenues as $371.3 million, up 26 percent year-on-year. PUBG: Mobile provided 253.7 million dollars of this amount. The firm attributed the increase in sales to Battlegrounds Mobile India and PUBG New State launch.
On a yearly basis, Krafton generated $1.57 billion in revenue, up 13 percent from the previous year. Similarly, PUBG: Mobile provided most of the revenue with $1.18 billion.
As reported by Sensor Tower, PUBG: Mobile was the highest-grossing game of 2021, grossing over $2.8 billion in all versions, including Game for Peace, the game’s localized version for China.
In January 2022, Krafton made PUBG: Battlegrounds free-to-play following the successful monetization strategy of the game’s mobile version. Whether this will cause a significant increase in the company’s revenue will be determined by the Q1 2022 report.
