Rocksteady Studios has announced the departure of its co-founders, Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker. The duo will leave Rocksteady at the end of 2022, just before Rocksteady’s new title, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, to move on to “a new adventure in gaming.”

The anouncement also stated that the Director of Production, Nathan Burlow, will assume the position of Studio Director. Darius Sadeghian, who was a Production Director for Rocksteady, will become the Studio Product Director. Burlow has been with the company for over 17 years, while Sadeghian will soon hit the eight-year milestone.

As the parent company of Rocksteady, Warner Bros.’ President David Haddad shared these thoughts and sentiments about Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker:

“We are very proud to have worked alongside Jamie and Sefton, who have led their talented teams to create some of the best games in the world. From the critically acclaimed hit Batman Arkham franchise to their evolutionary thinking with Suicide Squad, they have been great leaders of the team.”

Sefton Hill and Jamie Walker also commented on their decision to leave the company:

“Our decision to leave Rocksteady was emotional, to say the least! From the day we founded the company in 2004 all the way to today, Rocksteady has been our life and soul. It has given us the opportunity to do what we love most: make great games with exceptionally talented people. We are so proud of the team here for the games we have all made together, from our first game Urban Chaos to the much-loved Arkham series and now the epic Suicide Squad.”

Rocksteady has been active for the past 18 years, with over 250 employees currently working at the company. The team is responsible for the multiple award-winning Batman trilogy Arkham Asylum, Arkham City, and Arkham Knight.

The announcement also mentioned that the team is close to finishing their upcoming game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which is planned to come out in 2023. The game is set in Metropolis instead of Arkham City this time, but the company stated it will take place in the same continuity as the Batman: Arkham games.
