Successful mobile game studio has a new owner now.

Recently, Scopely sat down with Sony Pictures to acquire GSN Games for $1 billion. As of October 18, the company announced the news that the deal was concluded positively.

Scopely is a company that works intensively in the mobile game category of the interactive entertainment industry. The company is known for its catalog of games with names such as WWE Champions 2021, Wheel of Fortune: Free Play, The Walking Dead: Road to Survival, and Star Trek: Fleet Command. On the other hand, GSN Games, which the company acquired, has a collection of games such as Solitaire TriPeaks, Bingo Bash.

According to Variety, Sony Pictures launched its portfolio of games in 2007 as an offshoot of Sony’s “Game Show Network” project. GSN Games will allow some of these mobile games to change hands and take place in Scopely’s library. Ravi Ahuja, Chairman of SPE’s global television studios and corporate development, said:

“In meeting the Scopely team, we knew we found the right organization to support and accelerate the business. We are confident they will take GSN Games to new heights and SPE is pleased to be a minority shareholder in Scopely as a result of this transaction.”

Sony Pictures Entertainment stated that they are happy with the deal.

Mark Feldman, CEO of GSN Games, stated that he is very happy with the growth of his studio and said:

“Over the past four years, and in the teeth of a global pandemic, GSN Games has undertaken huge tech and product improvements to deliver on our commitment to providing our players with phenomenal game experiences. I am delighted that GSN Games will now be part of Scopely’s dynamic global mobile games business.”

A source close to Scopely reported that they expect the valuation of GSN Games to increase substantially compared to last year. The company, whose name we have heard often about its previous purchases, acquired FoxNext Games, the developer of Marvel Strike Force, from Disney last year.

Established in 2011, Scopely has accomplished great things in a short time with its successful company history. The success of the company, which has made a place for itself with the content it produces in the mobile game industry, is expected to continue.
