Blockchain giant Solana has announced a new “Web3 phone”. The first of its kind, this device will host various built-in Web3 services and act as a crypto wallet.
Solana plans to launch a mobile phone called Solana Saga in 2023. The phone’s price is expected to be $ 1000 for now. Unlike many other mobile phones, Solana Saga stands out with its software features rather than hardware.
The company designed the phone in question for developers producing mobile games and applications for Web3. Solana Saga has a built-in Web3 app store. Unlike the App Store and Google Play, there will be no extra taxes from developers in this store. Game and application revenues will belong entirely to the developer.
Solana also said he would allocate $10 million to increase the number of products in his Web3 app store and support developers. This means that Solana can soon make new investments and offer new services for the Web3 store.
The future is mobile
The mobile industry is growing rapidly, and Solana has focused its course on mobile. The company was a guest of an event held in New York recently. According to Coindesk, Solana Labs Co-Founder and CEO Anatoly Yakovenko said at this event:
“We live our lives on our mobile devices – except for Web3 because there hasn’t been a mobile-centric approach to private key management. The Solana Mobile Stack shows a new path forward on Solana that is open source, secure, optimized for Web3 and easy to use.”
Solana Mobile Stack (SMS) is a software development kit from Solana. SMS offers developers a variety of integrated payment methods. Developers using this SDK can find all the necessary technical infrastructure to get paid for the Web3 game or application they produce in Solana.
At the same event, FTX CEO Sam Bankman-Fried added:
“Everything is going mobile. In most countries, most of the access happens through mobile phones, but crypto mobile is behind the times. The best solution for this is having the actual wallet built into your phone.”
Also, Anatoly Yakovenko was a guest of Bloomberg and made many statements regarding the Solana Saga. If you wish, you can watch this broadcast below:
New solutions are being developed for Web3 every day. These solutions, which have been mostly software until now, are now also embodied in hardware.
