Valve’s gaming platform, Steam, has surpassed 10 million active in-game users for the first time since its launch as a software client in September 2003. The platform’s most-played titles, such as Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, and Apex Legends, which constantly gathers vast amount of players, contributed to this milestone.
The news came from SteamDB, as the Steam data tracker also noted over 32 million concurrent online users on the same day, January 7. SteamDB shared the data on its official Twitter page.
The data provider shared the first Steam sales chart of 2023 for the week ending January 8. The Steam Deck app took the first spot, as the remaining nine games were listed as follows:
- Elden Ring
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
- Hogwarts Legacy
- Cyberpunk 2077
- Red Dead Redemption 2
- Ready or Not
- FIFA 23
- God of War
- Project Zomboid
In other news, Steam recently announced the winners of Steam Awards 2022. The gamers voted as Elden Ring was crowned Game of the Year, Hitman 3 took the VR Game of the Year award, and God of War received high praise for its storytelling with the Outstanding Story-Rich Game award.
