Tencent buys 20% stake in South Korean studio Shift Up

Chinese giant became the second-largest shareholder in Shift Up with the acquisition.

Chinese industry giant Tencent acquired 20% stake in South Korean studio Shift Up and became the second-largest shareholder in Shift Up. The South Korean company is well known for hit mobile games like Goddess of Victory: Nikke.

According to the South Korean media Money Today Network report, the deal was done before the hit game was released in November. As of today, no official statements have been issued by both parties about the details of the acquisition.

Goddess of Victory: Nikke was developed by Shift Up and published by Tencent and made $100 million in sales so far.
