German-based market research, business consulting, and prescriptive data analytics company GfK have released a report of sales between 20-27 May 2023.

Nintendo’s latest hit, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, reigned as the top-selling game for the second consecutive week since its release. The game has been praised by both players and critics, which is a rare occasion.

Another game both critics and players had agreed on was The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. Despite the negative reviews and hilarious memes, the game managed to get itself a spot on the list thanks to the pre-orders and the undying LOTR IP.

Speaking of undying IPs, Grand Theft Auto V joined the list at the 8th spot. It is not a surprise since the game has been in and out of the Top 10 occasionally. 2017 release The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild resurfaced last week thanks to the success of its successor, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Breath of the Wild is considered to be one of the best video games ever made, and it is not abnormal to see the resurgence.
