Unity will not physically participate in any event this year

Unity

In recent weeks, Unity announced that Unite Now will be a completely digital event. Today the company comes back with a new blog post that answers many questions people had. Also, the team announced that Unity will not physically participate in any event this year. However, that doesn’t mean that it will not sponsor non-Unity events. Furthermore, we knew that the company is “working through various creative solutions to deliver the content our Unity community loves, like speaker sessions and hands-on learning”.

Unity will sponsor non-Unity events, but will not participate physically

As we mentioned above, Unity will still sponsor industry events during the year but will not physically participate. Also, it will support sponsorships with digital content and experiences like Unite Now platform. Right now, physical plans are cancelled but the company will consider doing them when the crisis is over. This includes things like Developer Days, sales hospitality meetings, VIP dinners, and thought-leadership events. There might be smaller virtual events to “meet these needs until we get back to our normal state of event programming.”.

Heather Glendinning, Unity’s head of global events said the following in the press release:

We know there is no perfect replacement for in-person meetings, events or experiences. We believe that by focusing on digital direct channels and engagement, we’ll be able to continue supporting communities and building rapport with industry events and organizations, our customers, and the community.

The fight against COVID-19 continues

The games industry came together to fight against COVID-19 (coronavirus) with different campaigns and donations. The outbreak affected most of us and the industries we love but this will not stop gaming. In fact, gaming usage increased by 53 percent due to coronavirus. Many conferences and events decided to go digitally starting with Pocket Gamer Connect to White Nights Conference and now Unity.
