Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 came on top as the best-selling video game in October, even though it was released on October 28. Activision’s gaming franchise giant is already the second most-selling video game of 2022, just behind Elden Ring. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has surpassed the $800 million milestone in only three days. Activision stated that Modern Warfare 2 exceeded the box office opening revenues of Top Gun: Maverick and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness combined.

In a previous report, NPD revealed that Elden Ring was expected to end up as the best-selling game in 2022, but the sale numbers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare might end up higher than Elden Ring.

Matt Piscatella, Executive Director & Video Game Industry Advisor for The NPD Group shared the Top 20 games on his Twitter account.
