Sweden-based video game developer Stunlock Studios‘ hit indie game V Rising reached a new milestone as the game’s sales crossed 2,5 million copies. The vampire survival game is priced at $20 (pricing changes depending on the region) and reached this milestone in less than three months.

The game has the players start as newly resurrected vampires, allowing them to grow stronger via leveling up, finding and crafting items, and unlocking skills and technologies. Players can survive together or solo; they can also build castles that act as bases and customize these places.

Stunlock’s V Rising already has a cult of gamers following every major and minor update the studio releases, but being an early access title, the game comes with a number of flaws too. Fans of the game heavily criticize the endgame and the grinding that’s required to get there.

The Swedish developer also announced that new updates are on the way in order to improve the gameplay and provide more content for the endgame, but no set-in-stone date was revealed for the upcoming updates.

The Chinese gaming giant Tencent invested in Stunlock Studios back in 2018, and the company acquired the majority stake of the Swedish studio in 2019 for an undisclosed sum. Tencent is also rumored to purchase the majority stake in Ubisoft.
