After 15 years and 1.5 billion downloads, Talking Tom Cat has returned with a remastered version.
Following the news of Talking Tom Cat Remastered, we caught up with Ante Odić and asked him about the process of bringing Tom in a new form.
What motivated Outfit7 to highlight the Talking Tom Cat remaster in 2025, and how does this relaunch fit into the company’s broader vision?
Talking Tom Cat is where it all began for the Talking Tom & Friends franchise. It reached millions of players worldwide and became a cultural moment in its own right. Fifteen years on, we thought it was the perfect time to celebrate that legacy while giving Talking Tom a fresh, modern feel.
The remaster isn’t about nostalgia alone. It’s about showing that Outfit7 keeps evolving, reimagining, and finding new ways to surprise and delight players. This project connects the roots of the brand with where we’re headed, keeping Tom playful, relevant, and full of personality.
This year has been huge for us, with launches like My Talking Tom Friends 2 and Talking Tom Friends: World, plus major updates across the portfolio, including Angela’s Hair Salon in My Talking Angela 2.
In that context, the remaster feels like a natural milestone – a way to honor our history while leveling up Tom with sharper visuals, new features, and even more of the quirks people love.

Can you reveal any behind-the-scenes metrics or stories from the original launch that underline its role in shaping mobile gaming?
One of the numbers that always blows me away is that Talking Tom Cat reached over 1.5 billion downloads, and players have poked Talking Tom more than 260 billion times. That is more than 30 pokes for every person on Earth. It shows just how universal Tom’s appeal is.
From the very beginning, we focused on playful interactivity that could connect with people instantly. Tom showed that simple, fun, interactive experiences could spread around the world almost overnight.

How has the Talking Tom community evolved over the years, and what role does player feedback play in shaping the remaster?
The community has always been incredibly diverse, across ages, regions, and ways of engaging with Talking Tom. What connects them is the love for playful, surprising moments. We have listened closely to what people have loved about Tom over the years, the quirks, the humor, the little reactions, and we built on that.
Player feedback has been central to the remaster, making sure Tom feels authentic while adding new layers of personality.
How has Talking Tom’s design been reimagined to appeal to today’s audiences while staying true to the original character?
Talking Tom has always had a lot of personality, and with the remaster, we wanted that to shine even more. His movements are smoother, his expressions sharper, and we have added subtle reactions like eyebrow twitches, tail flicks, or the way he reacts to different foods.
The iconic street corner background is still there but reimagined with fresh visuals and textures to feel modern while instantly recognizable. The Tom people remember is still very much here; we did not change his playful essence, we just amplified it for 2025.

What new features and gameplay mechanics are being introduced in this version, and how do they reflect current player expectations?
We kept the heart of the original, poking, scratching, and, of course, Talking Tom’s signature talk-back effect, because that is what people love most.
On top of that, we have added new animations to make his reactions feel richer and more unpredictable. Players can interact with fresh food items, from spaghetti to cotton candy, and see Tom respond in hilarious ways.
There are also new voice filters and modulators for the talk-back, plus a video recording feature so people can capture and share their favorite moments. The idea was to preserve the classic charm while expanding how people play, react, and connect with Tom today.

Looking ahead, how is Outfit7 positioning Talking Tom for the next 15 years in a rapidly evolving games industry?
Talking Tom is more than a character; he’s a playful icon at the center of a franchise that now spans over 20 games. From My Talking Tom to Talking Tom Gold Run, My Talking Tom Friends 2, and My Talking Angela 2, the original app grew into a global phenomenon enjoyed across mobile platforms.
But we’re not just looking back. We’re using 15 years of learning to launch forward. The remaster celebrates that legacy while showing where we are headed, continuing to innovate across games, new formats, and unexpected collaborations.
If the first 15 years built Tom’s cultural footprint, the next 15 will expand it in ways people might not see coming, building on the momentum from recent launches and updates across our portfolio, while keeping Tom playful, relevant, and engaging for years to come.
