Arab Game Awards premiered live on January 20, is the biggest video-game-oriented event in the MENA (Middle East-North Africa). Many games were celebrated and awarded for different categories at the event, while gamers enjoyed meeting their favorite creators and watching global and local trailers.
A jury of 20 critics representing gamers from the Arab world has elected the best games of 2022 in categories like Best Game, Best Indie Game, Technical Achievement, Best Arabic Localization, and many more. Popular content creators from the region were also present to host the event, including BanderitaX, MLZLZ, and Ocmz.
Game producer Yasuhiro Kitao appeared to thank the Arab players with a special message to celebrate the awards. At the same time, Shinji Mikami, famous for his works in the Resident Evil series, was honored with the Industry Legend Award and spoke to his Arab audience for the first time. Another noticeable occasion was Tekken series director Katsuhiro Harada officially announcing the localization of the upcoming Tekken 8 game.
