Canadian independent game studio Brace Yourself Games announced its new publishing wing, Brace Yourself Publishing. The company’s goal is to help small indie games developers to get the attention they deserve.

The Vancouver-based independent game studio is behind Crypt of the NecroDancer, Cadence of Hyrule, Industries of Titan, and Phantom Brigade. Having gained serious experience as a game developer, the studio now wants to use it in the publishing field. The knowledge and the connections they built up through the years will help small developers receive the marketing push they need.
Brace Yourself Games explained the goal in the official statement:
“At BYG, we aren’t looking to publish hundreds of games — we want to work with a small handful of games to which we give our full attention and care. It’s important to us that we only publish games that we love and believe in, with teams that we’re very proud to work with.”
The types of games Brace Yourself Publishing is looking for are described as “hooky and unique in some way, replayable and deep, in a genre that has a reasonably sized player base (we are not looking for hyper-niche games) and just plain fun!” by the company.
Brace Yourself Publishing is accepting submissions on its website from indie gamer developers. The games don’t have to be fully developed to apply, but Brace Yourself Publishing wants to see something playable before accepting the application.
Ryan Clark founded Brace Yourself Games in 2013. The first game of the studio, Crypt of the NecroDancer, came out in 2015. Two studio titles, Phantom Brigade and Industries of Titan, are still on early access. On top of that, the studio recently announced a new roguelike game called Godless.
