Mobile game publisher Voodoo has announced that its developer education program, Voodoo Academy, now has over 2,000 participants. The company stated that the program helped kickstart more than 100 new hyper-casual studios.
Voodoo Academy is a program that aims to ensure the onboarding journey for new studios is as smooth and inspiring as possible. The learning platform provides coaching, tools, features, and assets as developers find the necessary backing to build their first game.
Voodoo Academy was launched back in April of 2022, following the company’s six billion game downloads achievement earlier this year. Voodoo shared that the program is now open to those looking to develop hybrid-casual games, in line with its 2023 publishing strategy.
Stanislas Marchand, Core Studios Lead at Voodoo, commented on the success of Voodoo Academy:
“After helping to create 100 new hyper-casual studios around the world in 2022 and welcoming 2,000 participants to the program, we’re incredibly proud of the amazing initial success of the Voodoo Academy.”
“We’re dedicated to continuing this success and providing the best possible training for new studios to enter the exciting hyper-casual and hybrid-casual space. Our goal is to keep training talent and create 100 new hybrid-casual studios in 2023!”
The company also mentioned that a new program for game artists is being planned for hyper and hybrid-casual gaming art, which will also help aspiring artists to find partners. In line with Voodoo Academy, the program also holds game competitions in various categories, including Best Puzzle, Best Battler, Best Incremental, and Best Playtime Metrics.
