Forge of Empires hits €1 billion in lifetime revenues

A loyal player base was one of the biggest contributors to this impressive milestone. The game was launched in March 2012 and currently has over 130 million registered players.

German video game developer and publisher InnoGames announced that its worldwide strategy hit Forge of Empires has surpassed €1 billion in lifetime revenues. The game was launched in March 2012 and currently has over 130 million registered players.

A loyal player base was one of the biggest contributors to this impressive milestone. 34% of the 2022 revenues were from players who had been playing for at least three years, and 18% of the revenue came from players who have been playing the game for at least five years.

On reaching the revenue milestone, Christian Reshöft, the Chief Product Officer of InnoGames, said:

“Our recipe for success is giving loyal long term players reasons to stick around while making the game fun and accessible for new players. The only way to achieve this balance is to listen very carefully to community feedback and keep delivering new content that players love. It’s also something you have to do consistently, and when it comes to Forge of Empires, we’ve done it for longer than a decade.

This approach is also where the strength of InnoGames really shows. But not everything is about content. We are also fully committed to cross-platform play, which means that players can seamlessly switch between browser and iOS or Android at any time. This makes sure that Forge of Empires continues to fit into their ever-changing lives and gaming habits.”

Since its release in 2012, the multi-award-winning Forge of Empires has become one of the most successful strategy games in the world, with millions of active players in over 30 markets.
