Elden Ring wins Best Game at New York Game Awards 2023

Microsoft Gaming and Xbox CEO, Phil Spencer, has been honoured with the Andrew Yoon Legend Award.

The New York Videogame Critics Circle has announced the winners for the 12th annual New York Game Awards. Elden Ring was crowned Game of the Year once again and received the Statue of Liberty Award for Best World.

Xbox boss Phil Spencer received the Andrew Yoon Legend Award and made comments in his acceptance speech:

“Today, as creators, as leaders, as world-builders, our greatest responsibility is to inspire and invite joy. Each one of the hundreds of titles that players have at their fingertips today and tomorrow is a calling card for joy.”

The widely popular game Vampire Survivors won the Off Broadway Award for Best Indie Game, and God of War: Ragnarök was acknowledged for its storytelling as the title received the Herman Melville Award for Best Writing in a Game. After its launch last year, God of War Ragnarök managed to sell 5.1 million in five days and became the fastest-selling PS game.

  • Tin Pan Alley Award for Best Music in a Game – Metal: Hellsinger
  • Great White Way Award for Best Acting in a Game – Manon Gage in Immortality
  • Coney Island Dreamland Award for Best AR/VR Game – Moss: Book II
  • Central Park Children’s Zoo Award for Best Kids Game – Kirby and the Forgotten Land
  • A-Train Award for Best Mobile Game – Marvel Snap
  • Freedom Tower Award for Best Remake – The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe
  • Joltin’ Joe Award for Best Esports Player of the Year – Masaya “aMSa” Chikamoto
  • Chumley’s Speakeasy Award for Best Hidden Gem – Signalis
  • NYC GWB Award for Best DLC – Destiny 2: The Witch Queen
  • Knickerbocker Award for Best Games Journalism – Justin Heckert
  • Elizabeth Jennings Graham Award for Best Educator – Ryan O’Callaghan

Elden Ring continues to stack up Game of the Year awards, previously winning at The Game Awards 2022 and Steam Awards 2022. The title also received awards for Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction, and Best Role-Playing Game at The Game Awards 2022.
