Ubisoft held the Ubisoft Forward 2023 yesterday and showcased an exclusive look at upcoming Ubisoft games, including Star Wars Outlaws, Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, The Crew Motorfest, and more.
The presentation was live on Ubisoft’s official Twitch and YouTube channels. The seven-hour-long event had many new trailers, gameplay videos, and announcements. We have listed the trailers shown and asked our community how hyped they were about the upcoming games.
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Avatar has been underutilized as and gaming IP since its first movie. The colorful and bold world of Pandora could have been home to many games from any genre. The upcoming open-world action-adventure game is being developed by Massive Entertainment and will be published by Ubisoft for PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox Series X/S, and Amazon Luna on December 7, 2023.
Hype Level: Very high
XDefiant
XDefiant has been in closed beta for several months and will launch later this summer. XDefiant will be running an Open Session for all players on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S from June 21-23.
“We received a lot of great feedback from our players after the end of our Closed Beta,” says Creative Director Safy Saada, “and for the Open Session, we’ll likely see some new faction balancing based on player feedback, as well as weapon balancing based on data we’ve collected from the Closed Beta.”
The video showcased in Ubisoft Forward 2023 is a reaction recap from streamers and Youtubers and includes funny montages, high-skill kills, and exciting moments from the closed beta.
Hype Level: Low
Skull and Bones
Imagine a game that has been delayed six times. The hype around it would be diminished after the third or maybe the fourth delay. But not Skull and Bones! Ubisoft shared a trailer in the form of a sea shanty and in-game footage and managed to capture our interest for the seventh time!
Another good news from the long-awaited game is there is a closed beta that will run from August 25th to August 28th, 2023!
Hype Level: High
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown
Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown was announced at Summer Games Fest 2023 last week. Ubisoft has revealed a stylish and thrilling animated trailer for the game. Many Prince of Persia fans felt nostalgic when the game was announced as an action-adventure platformer. Some of the fans were expecting a game like genre defining Sands of Time or Warrior Within. Come to think of it, both games were released more than 20 years ago, so there are two different groups of players who would consider different genres of Prince of Persia “nostalgic”. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will be out on January 18, 2024.
Hype Level: Medium
The Crew Motorfest
The Crew Motorfest is an upcoming racing video game developed by Ubisoft Ivory Tower and published by Ubisoft for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. It will be the sequel to 2018’s The Crew 2 and the third game in The Crew series, scheduled to release on September 14, 2023.
Hype Level: Medium (High if you are a racing game maniac)
Assassin’s Creed
Ubisoft’s prize gem Assasin’s Creed had a busy night, announcing three games. The first announced game was Assassins Creed Nexus, a VR game for Meta Quest 2 and 3.
Ubisoft then announced a mobile game called Codename Jade, which will be an open-world mobile title set in Ancient China in 215 BCE.
The last announced title was Assassin’s Creed Mirage, a back-to-the-roots game for the franchise. In Assassin’s Creed Mirage, you are Basim, a cunning street thief with nightmarish visions, seeking answers and justice. After an act of deadly retribution, Basim flees Baghdad and joins an ancient organization – The Hidden Ones. As he learns their mysterious rituals and powerful tenets, he will hone his unique abilities, discover his true nature, and come to understand a new Creed – one that will change his fate in ways he could never have imagined.
Hype Level: Mixed
Star Wars Outlaws
The brand-new Star Wars game was revealed at Xbox Games Showcase 2023 a few days ago. Ubisoft describes the game as the first-ever open-world Star Wars game, set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. The game will explore distinct planets across the galaxy, both iconic and new. Ubisoft says, “Risk it all as Kay Vess, a scoundrel seeking freedom and the means to start a new life, along with her companion Nix. Fight, steal, and outwit your way through the galaxy’s crime syndicates as you join the galaxy’s most wanted.” The game will be out in 2024.
