Kolibri Game is known for its experiences in the free-to-play mobile space. Idle Miner Tycoon, released in 2016, is the studio’s most popular game. It could be described as a mine managing simulator with a distinctive character design. As the years passed, the popularity of the game increased.
Managing Director of Kolibri Games, Guillaume Verlinden, talked about Idle Miner Tycoon’s 150 million download achievement after it was announced.
“This milestone is a testament to the impact that Idle Miner Tycoon has had on the idle genre and mobile games as a whole. I’d like to congratulate all the members of the team who worked on IMT through the years, continuing to apply their creativity and ingenuity to grow this title to the heights that it’s reached.”
“While achievements like this serve as a validation of past decisions, we’re very excited about what’s still to come for Idle Miner Tycoon. The game is central to our mission of reinventing the idle genre, and we look to engage our players, current and new, with more exciting features, characters, and special event mines in the years to come.”
Kolibri Games was founded in 2016 as Fluffy Fairy Games. The first game of the studio, Idle Miner Tycoon, was released in the same year the studio was founded. The popular mining simulation was developed in eight weeks.
Two years later, the team released a new game called Idle Factory Tycoon for iOS and Android. In the same year, the studio’s name changed to Kolibri Games. Ubisoft acquired 75% of the mobile game studio in 2020 for €160 million. They released eight new games since Ubisoft’s acquisition.
