Mobile gaming spending exceeds $93 billion in 2021

According to Newzoo, mobile games generated $93.2 billion in revenue in 2021, up 7.3 percent yearly. Overall, mobile games accounted for 52 percent of worldwide player spending in 2021. The APAC region took the lead in revenue, accounting for 64 percent of global consumer spending.

China and Japan were the first and third highest-grossing countries, spending $31.8 billion and $13.7 billion, respectively, on mobile games. The United States was the second highest-grossing country with $15.1 billion.

Newzoo estimates that by 2024 mobile gaming consumer spending will reach $116.1 billion and continue to outpace PC and console revenues. In addition, Newzoo predicts that Latin America and MENA will be the fastest-growing mobile gaming markets by 2024.

Additionally, Newzoo found that social media app TikTok users were more likely to spend more time on mobile games, spend 66 percent more, and pay 40 percent more for add-ons.

Also, TikTok users are more interested in a wider range of mobile game genres than other users.
