There is a new video game studio in town and it’s already got a strong lineup. Naughty Dog veteran Bruce Straley opened a new studio that welcomes remote working. Straley’s experience in the industry alone is a difference maker, nevertheless, his team has members who put work in major hits like Call of Duty series, Astroneer, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Kena: Bridge of Spirits, and more.
Straley shared the news on his Twitter account with an announcement video, which has already over 2,000 likes and nearly 250 retweets at the time of writing the news. The industry expert says the studio will focus on “making ‘small-ish,’ creatively-charged, uniquely-stylized games that explore the possibilities of the medium.”
Wildflower’s official website states that the studio will be “a small and open-hearted team of creators that want to improve their skills and still lead a good life outside of work.” The newly opened studio is looking for talents, you may want to check out the positions they’re hiring for.
The experienced game maker adds that the game they’re currently working on is something he’s never played before, in the sense that it’s a unique game rather than following a formula. He also mentions that the studio already has an “exciting” publishing partner but he didn’t mention which company that may be.
This week has seen another promising video game studio launch in Jar of Sparks, created by Jerry Hook and supported by the Chinese gaming giant NetEase.
Another China-based video games giant miHoYo also launched its fifth metaverse-focused office, this one in Singapore.
