It hasn’t been long since Valve’s portable console was launched, but it has come a long way. The console reached another milestone after supply chain shortages and the lack of compatible games. It was announced on Twitter by Steam Deck.
Valve tested approximately 7,000 games, and 5,000 work perfectly with Steam Deck. Meanwhile, 2,000 of them are incompatible.
Steam Deck compatible games have to undergo a verification process called Steam Deck Verified.
- Verified games are fully playable on the Steam Deck without any performance or console control problems. Games must obtain approval in four categories to get verified: Input, display, seamlessness, and system support.
- Playable games should generally work fine on the Steam Deck, but players could experience some problems with graphics settings or controls. Some of the text might be too small to read comfortably. In that case, the developers are getting a feedback.
- Unplayable games are not compatible with the Steam Deck.
Valve also announced the top Steam Deck games of August 2022. The games are sorted by the hours played. Vampire Survivors is on top of the list. It is followed by Cult of the Lamb, Elden Ring, Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered, Stardew Valley, No Man’s Sky, Hades, Multiversus, The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim Special Edition, and Monster Hunter Rise.
Valve is currently shipping Steam Deck to the US, Canada, Europe, and the UK and planning to launch it in Japan next. The company announced it is ramping up the production of Steam Deck as demand for the portable console grows. Producing and shipping of Steam Decks doubled as of the last week of July. The gaming giant is hoping to fulfill the demand soon.
