Video games publisher and developer Paradox Interactive launched a brand new division called Paradox Arc to help smaller developers make replayable games. This new program focuses on “highlighting unique designs and engaging games from small development teams” and aims to use the publisher’s years of experience.

The announcement of the new initiative came alongside Across the Obelisk’s launch, a coop RPG deckbuilding rogue-lite game developed by Dreamsite Games. The deckbuilding game left early access on August 16 and it’s available on PC. Across the Obelisk also became the first game that’s published through Paradox Arc, marking a milestone for the new initiative.

Sebastian Forsström, Head of Paradox Arc left the following comment:

“Our goal with Paradox Arc is to surprise players with games they might not have known they needed to play. We’re publishing the kind of games that suddenly appear atop your ‘Most Played’ list.

“I can say from direct experience that Across the Obelisk fits this mold perfectly and I don’t think we could have asked for a better game for our premiere. I’m looking forward to sharing more Paradox Arc titles with everyone soon – and to inviting more developers to work with us.”

Forsström also responded to a query on Twitter, that said“Is this label specifically then for small studios basically?”, and assured that Paradox Arc includes solo developers as well, meaning one-person studios are also in the range of the program.

The program’s official page said Paradox Arc focuses on publishing efforts “to bring deep, endless, and replayable games from smaller teams” that fit the Paradox Interactive formula.

The official Paradox Arc page mentions two unannounced projects that are coming soon, but there’s basically no information on what these new titles could be, and knowing Paradox, these games could be anything.

The new initiative also encourages indie developers to pitch their games to Paradox, provided they’ve turned them into a playable demo at the very least.
