About three years ago, on February 8, 2019, Peak Games came to the fore with a ‘stolen ad’ lawsuit. After it was understood that the company’s ad broadcast on 41 television channels was not original, Peak Games filed a lawsuit against the advertising company Medina Turgul DDB. Today, it has been announced that the case has been concluded.
The decision was in favor of Peak Games. Deciding that the advertisement in question was “not original,” the court sentenced Medina Turgul DDB to pay compensation of 10.5 million TL.
Regarding the issue, Peak Games shared the following announcement on its social media account:
“As we promised, we are sharing the result here. The lawsuit we filed regarding the advertisement, which we published with great enthusiasm three years ago, but later learned that the idea was actually stolen, was concluded today. The court approved that the advertisement film was not original, we won the lawsuit we filed with the agency. The decision was not only valid for our rightfulness but also for creative works. We are very happy that it also emphasizes the importance of originality.”
Peak Games is Turkey’s first unicorn, the company that has reached a billion-dollar valuation. In that sense, the ‘stolen ad’ lawsuit was a question mark over the brand. After the lawsuit was concluded, the doubts on Peak Games were thus cleared.
