PlayStation is on the lookout for additional new investments and opportunities in the mobile and PC space. Sony has been trying to expand outside the console platform for a while, and according to the Head of PlayStation Studios, Hermen Hulst, the effort will continue.

Sony did expand toward the mobile platform in recent months by acquiring mobile game developer Savage Game Studios. Savage has since then joined the PlayStation Studios Mobile Division, which operates separately from the console division.
The company acquired Nixxes Software, a firm that specializes in PC ports, strengthening its position in the PC market. A minority stake was also purchased from Elden Ring developer FromSoftware.
Another acquisition saw Sony successfully closing out the $3.6 billion deal on Bungie, the developer behind games such as Halo and Destiny. In an interview with Reuters, Hermen Hulst mentioned that this might not be all when it comes to investments without revealing much information:
“Further investments in areas that will strengthen the expansion on to PC, on to mobile and into live services, that’s definitely a possibility for us.”
Serkan Toto, Founder of Kantan Games, has also made comments about Sony’s recent strategy:
“If Sony can pull off what they did with single player experiences but as multiplayer experiences across platforms, on the PC, on consoles and maybe even on the phone, then all bets are off.”
Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection will be launched on PC later this year, along with Sackboy: A Big Adventure, which will also expand to the PC platform on October 27.
