Access to Roblox, which has millions of players worldwide, has been blocked in Turkiye. Players trying to enter the game encountered the error message “failed to download or apply critical settings.”
Roblox is a game platform that allows users to generate content (User Generated Content or UGC) and earn revenue. It is a source of income for many developers in Turkiye. Recently, the popular cartoon brand “Kral Şakir” also invested in this area and brought its brand to Roblox.
Why did Roblox banned in Turkiye?
The Directorate of Communications made a statement regarding the access block to Roblox:
- Sexual content that leads to the exploitation of children,
- Virtual parties promoting homosexuality,
- Distribution of “robux” game currency by bot accounts to encourage children’s participation in these activities,
- The inability to monitor the aforementioned content,
As a result of the investigation initiated by the Adana Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, access to the platform has been blocked.
