Samsung Electronics has partnered with Finland-based developer of cloud-native technology and games Return Entertainment to launch their smart TV gaming platform and debut game, Rivals Arena, exclusively on Samsung TVs in the United States.
The partnership will see Return Entertainment introduce a new way to play games on Samsung TVs using smartphones as controllers by simply scanning a QR code to dive into the world of Rivals Arena.
Rivals Arena is a fast-paced card battler where players can win through strategic card combos and clever gameplay. The game has impressive cinematic visuals, multiplayer options and offers an immersive gaming experience in a futuristic setting.
A new way to play
Players can access the game by simply scanning a QR code with their smartphone and experience a new way to play by using their phones as controllers without the need of a traditional gamepad.
Return Entertainment CEO Vesa Jutila calls the partnership “a pivotal milestone” for the company. “We are thrilled to work with Samsung to bring cinematic, high-fidelity gaming to Samsung TVs and mainstream audiences.”
“We aim to revolutionize gaming on smart TVs – our cloud-native technology can deliver the ultimate gaming experience without external controllers.” said Jutila.
Samsung Electronics’ head of product management Mike Lucero says, “Samsung is dedicated to giving players more ways to engage with games on our devices. We are excited to be working with leading-edge gaming companies like Return Entertainment to expand our game offering and reach entirely new audiences.”
“Our mission is to turn every Samsung TV user into a player with mass appeal content like what we announced today,” Lucero adds.
