Sky Mavis, the pioneer of blockchain and play-to-earn games, has announced a new Axie Infinity title. Axie Infinity: Origin aims to reduce the cost of entry to the game by offering its users free-to-play but non-NFT-featured Axies.
The announcement was made through Sky Mavis’ distribution platform, Mavis Hub. The game is open to early access globally and is playable on Mavis Hub. For those who don’t know, Axie Infinity is an NFT game with over 1.5 million players. The game features digital pets called Axies. Users can collect, fight, breed, and trade these Pokémon-like NFT Axies for cryptocurrencies.
Sky Mavis aims to reach more users with Axie Infinity: Origin. Axie Infinity: Origin comes with improved game mechanics and a more beautiful and exciting battle system.
A More Efficient Axie Infinity
Sky Mavis CEO Trung Nguyen says they are aiming for a more efficient Axie Infinity:
“We are constantly looking for ways to bring the fun of Axie Infinity to even more people. Through Origin, we are not only making the game easier to play by offering three free non-NFT starter Axies, but we are polishing the design, making gameplay more efficient, and introducing new mechanics to drive sustainability. During the early access release, our focus is on collecting player feedback and real gameplay data to be able to create the best experience possible before a full launch. We look forward to hearing players’ input and can’t wait to see our community grow while building a better, decentralized world together.”
As you know, Axie Infinity has two game coins named SLP and AXS. In the game, users could win SLP and AXS thanks to various prizes. The company announced that there would be no SLP and AXS awards in the early access version of Axie Infinity: Origin. In addition, other resources collected by players during the early access period will also be reset when early access ends. Axie Infinity: Origin will also be released for iOS and Android after the initial early access period. The game can only be accessed via Mavis Hub for now.
Previously, Sky Mavis was on the agenda with $ 625 million stolen from the Ronin blockchain. Right after this crisis, the company raised $150 million in funding and announced Axie Infinity: Origin.
