Bethesda announced that Starfield had gone gold, meaning development on the game is done, and the game is ready to be sold. Preload will begin tomorrow (August 17) for Xbox X and S and PC via the Windows Store. Steam users will have to wait until August 30.
Considering the game size, a whopping 125GB, preload is definitely appreciated by the fans. Baldur’s Gate 3, one of the biggest launches of 2023, did not have preload due to the limitations of Steam and the two-year-long early access files.
The early access release date is still September 1st, so there is enough time to download the game.
