Supercell planning to acquire Metacore & add Merge Mansion to its portfolio

Supercell has announced plans to bring Merge Mansion into its live games portfolio by acquiring the remaining shares of Metacore.

Originally launched in 2020, Merge Mansion has built a global player base, with millions of users engaging with the game over multiple years. The title is recognized as a foundational entry in the merge-2 genre, contributing to the category’s rise within the mobile games market.

Supercell stated that the acquisition aligns with its strategy to expand its portfolio and reach a broader casual audience. The company highlighted the long-term player retention of Merge Mansion as a key factor, noting that sustained engagement at this scale remains uncommon in the market.

Ilkka Paananen, CEO of Supercell said:

“Merge Mansion has a strong core that players have genuinely loved for over five years, built by a team that pioneered the merge 2 category itself. I believe Merge Mansion’s best days are still ahead. With Supercell’s experience turning around and scaling global live games, alongside our capabilities in live operations and user acquisition, we can help it climb back to the top of its category – where it belongs.”

Mika Tammenkoski, CEO of Metacore said:

“I truly believe Supercell is the best future home for Merge Mansion.  It’s an amazing game, and it deserves the best possible chance to succeed going forward.”
