Xsolla acquires Lightstream, Rainmaker, and API.stream

Video game commerce company Xsolla has recently finalized its acquisition of Lightstream, Rainmaker, and API.stream, previously owned by Creative Solutions, a subsidiary of Videndum Group.

The move aims to broaden the business operations of Xsolla’s Partner Network, providing new tools and resources for streaming and gaming content creation. Lightstream, established in 2014 as a cloud streaming service, subsequently created API.stream, allowing developers to create live video systems. Rainmaker.gg, another addition to Xsolla’s portfolio, enables creators to track and report live streaming data across platforms like Twitch, YouTube, and Facebook.

The acquisition of Lightstream, Rainmaker, and API.stream aligns with Xsolla’s commitment to supporting creators and enhancing content creation. The company intends to provide an all-encompassing solution for developers, publishers, creators, and their audiences.

This move follows Xsolla’s recent acquisition of AcceleratXR, an in-game server backend provider, demonstrating Xsolla’s strategic efforts to strengthen its position in the game industry. Xsolla’s CEO, Chris Hewish, highlighted the company’s dedication to delivering added value to the gaming community through these acquisitions. The goal is to make the Xsolla Partner Network a comprehensive solution for developers, publishers, creators, and their audiences.

Xsolla Partner Network, already serving as a one-stop solution for developers and publishers, aims to explore new revenue and rewards opportunities. With the addition of Lightstream, Rainmaker, and API.stream, Xsolla plans to empower creators further, allowing them to go live seamlessly via cloud streaming services, request free keys from game developers, participate in referral programs, and sell digital goods for games in Xsolla’s portfolio.

The acquisition is expected to enhance the user experience for current Lightstream users, with Xsolla assuring that the platform will continue to operate smoothly in collaboration with partners such as Microsoft, Xbox, Twitch, and Steelseries.

Overall, Xsolla’s strategic acquisitions underscore its recognition of the value creators bring to the gaming ecosystem, with a focus on building and strengthening relationships with talent agencies, creators, and their audiences.
