Youtuber Jason Yevgeniy Gastrow, better known as videogamedunkey, is partnering up with his wife Leah ‘Leahbee’ Gastrow (also a popular YouTuber) to launch an indie-focused game publishing company called Bigmode. The Youtuber is known for his humorous and objective reviews of high-budget games as well as for discovering hidden indie gems.

Gastrow talked about why he decided to venture into this area of gaming in his own style on a Youtube video. He said “I’ve been on YouTube for 11 years now and one of the core themes of my channel has always been to slam dunk soulless cash grabs into the garbage can and lift up and praise the truly inspired works of art in this medium,” and then added, “For years and years, I have always sought out the very best indie games out there and have tried to do them justice, putting millions of eyes on the games that actually deserve attention.”
The two YouTubers “aren’t just the face of this company; they are the company” per Gastrow’s own words.
Gastrow also points at scammers on various platforms saying, “A lot of games out there understand how to emulate the look of your favorite games but don’t deliver where it actually counts.” and adds that Bigmode will be a developer-friendly publisher, helping good games reach people who’d actually enjoy their games.
The Youtuber said he believes his experience will bring great value to the indie games industry and help good games succeed now and continue succeeding into the future. Gastrow calls out to all indie developers to submit their games, however, underlines that Web3 games (NFT, blockchain, crypto) won’t get a pass, no matter where they stand.
