ZBD welcomes Ex-PlayStation Exec Gordon Thornton to lead its console & PC plans

ZBD announced the appointment of Gordon Thornton, a 17-year veteran of Sony Interactive Entertainment, as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO).

At Sony, Gordon helped to build and scale PlayStation’s global direct-to-consumer business from inception to $13B in revenue, transforming the PlayStation Store into the world’s largest digital games retailer and subscription platform. Since leaving Sony, he has consulted for brands such as Epic Games and Coda Payments.

At ZBD, Gordon will lead on go-to-market for the company’s expanding product suite, which gives console, PC, and mobile games publishers full ownership of money movement in their games to drive player engagement and revenue.

Simon Cowell, CEO and Co-Founder at ZBD said:

“2026 is a big year for ZBD, with several new products launching in H2, and we’re thrilled to have Gordon on board to further accelerate our next phase of growth. His work building up PlayStation’s digital capabilities made the PlayStation store the preeminent digital gaming distribution platform for games. We are very excited to be working with Gordon on embedding our fully licensed tech into top-tier games across platforms.”
