Following a summer spent co-founding her own AI startup, Jessica Jung, formerly lead product manager at Niantic, where she spearheaded the XR/AI experience Peridot, is set to helm Supercell’s inaugural AI Innovation Lab in San Francisco.
Jung revealed that after departing Niantic in March, she dove into building her own consumer AI company with co‑founder Will Jackson, focusing on novel interaction models, multimodal agents, and cognitive wellness. During that journey, she and her team engaged with prominent investors, including a16z, Y Combinator, and Founders, Inc., who showed considerable interest.
However, a conversation with Supercell’s leadership—including Ilkka Paananen, Otto Söderlund, and others—tipped the scales.
Jung stated on her LinkedIn post:
“Supercell is looking to explore at the edge of what’s possible with AI and build completely new entertainment categories. Just as they disrupted the gaming ecosystem over a decade ago with mobile, Supercell is positioned to become innovators once again.
We’re building the lab from 0->1, exploring how AI can give developers superpowers to realize their creativity and make novel new interaction loops that we’ve never seen before.”
