Top Mobile Games Revenue May
SensorTower has released the highest-grossing games of May.

According to data from SensorTower, mobile MOBA Honor of Kings developed by Tencent became the highest-grossing mobile game of May with $268 million in player spending. PUBG: Mobile, the game of the same company, took the second place with $ 206.3 million.

Approximately 95% of Honor of Kings’ revenue came from China, followed by Taiwan with 1.7% and Thailand with the same rate. The game saw a 1.7% increase in revenues year over year. On the other hand, 67% of PUBG: Mobile revenues came from China, where the game was localized under the name Game For Peace, followed by Turkey with 6.4%.

Genshin Impact, developed by miHoYo, continues to decline in income. The game had the second-lowest ever month of player spending on the App Store and Google Play, recorded 20.6% less revenue than the previous year with $99.7 million. The drop is thought to be due to COVID-19 restrictions in Shanghai, where miHoYo is headquartered. Due to these restrictions, miHoYo could not provide essential updates and new events.

May 2022, the global mobile game market experienced a year-on-year decline of 8%. While the player expenditures reached $ 6.8 billion, most of these were made in the USA because Google Play is not used in China. The United States accounted for 28% of worldwide spending, with $1.9 billion in player spending. China followed this rate with 20.4%, while Japan took third place with 17.8%.
