Amazon is celebrating Prime Day 2022 by giving away Mass Effect Legendary Edition and some other juicy titles like Need for Speed Heat, Grid Legends, Star Wars Jedi Knight – Jedi Academy, Jedi Knight 2 Jedi Outcast, and about 30 more other titles ranging from indies to AAA games.

The gaming platform is actually older than two years, but Amazon marks the rebranding as a new starting point and the company shared some interesting numbers with Venture Beat to show the progress they have achieved in the past two years. Per Amazon’s statement Prime Gaming has seen a growth that’s over 120% across the two years it’s been active.

Any Amazon Prime member automatically qualifies for membership in Prime Gaming as well. The service gives freebies every week ranging from AAA games to popular indie titles and even in-game content for popular competitive games like Valorant, FIFA, NBA, and more. Amazon says in 2021, Prime members claimed over 80 million games for free. Amazon says offering free games helps publishers acquire new users, retain the existing ones or help them reacquire users that left their platform behind.

Prime Gaming will continue to give free games and content

Prime Gaming has given away hundreds of video games for free alongside free packs, loot boxes, and other in-game items, adding great value to Prime membership. Josh Dodson, head of business development and operations at Prime Gaming said in 2021 alone, Prime members claimed freebies that are worth over $21,600 (per player).

Dodson went on to say that this business approach will continue and Amazon Prime Gaming will offer free video games and content to players across the world.

Most of the free video games (and in-game content) require you to link your Amazon Prime account with the related platform. For instance, if you’re to claim Mass Effect Legendary Edition you’ll need an Origin account that’s linked to Prime Gaming. The same applies to in-game content such as monthly League of Legends prime capsules and Valorant rewards.
