Founded in March 2019, Bazooka Tango brings together industry veterans with extensive AAA gaming experience from companies such as Rockstar Games, Riot, Blizzard, and Activision. Notably, Bo Daly and Stephan Sherman previously co-founded Super Evil Megacorp and developed the award-winning game Vainglory. Their latest venture, in collaboration with Immutable Games, aims to deliver a next-generation collectible tactics game with rich lore, deep strategy, and intense competition, integrating Web3 technology to provide true digital ownership to players.
Other participants in the funding round include RW3 Ventures, Sfermion, 1Up Ventures, and others. The funds raised are intended to facilitate the growth of the Bazooka Tango team through strategic hires, supporting the development of new titles, and further advancing Shardbound, an immersive multiplayer collectible tactics game created in collaboration with Immutable Games.
With the global trading card game (TCG) market projected to reach $11.57 billion by 2030, games like Shardbound, which combines traditional TCG elements with digital ownership principles, are poised to play a significant role in the industry.
Bo Daly, Founder and CEO at Bazooka Tango, expressed gratitude for the positive reception of Shardbound, stating, “We believe that Web3 has the potential to unleash some really cool ideas, and we’re excited to see so much enthusiasm from our community as we continue on this journey together.”
The funds raised have already been utilized by Bazooka Tango to make strategic hires, including the appointment of Kellen Smalley as Vice President of Operations, bringing over 18 years of experience working with gaming and entertainment companies, including Apple, Disney, Twitch, Kabam, Electronic Arts, Forte, and Rally. Additionally, experienced game developers from 2K, Sledgehammer Games, Rainbow Studios, and Pocket Gems have joined the Bazooka Tango team.
Scott Rupp, Founding General Partner of BITKRAFT Ventures, commended Bo and Stephan for their past contributions to the game industry and expressed confidence in their ability to elevate the Web3 space.
Shardbound’s Alpha playtest has garnered significant interest, with 1,000 participants and positive reviews from notable content creators. The game has already accumulated over 50,000 pre-registrations and over 10,000 hours watched as part of the Shardbound Creator Campaign.
