Blind Squirrel Games has expanded its global presence by acquiring Distributed Development, a Colombian game studio, which will now operate as Blind Squirrel Games Colombia.
This move strengthens Blind Squirrel’s footprint with teams already in the U.S. and New Zealand, creating an international network aimed at cost-effective AAA game development.
Established over 13 years ago with offices in California, Texas, and New Zealand, BSG has worked on some of the most significant and beloved AAA titles in the industry, such as Bioshock Collection, Amazon’s MMORPG New World, Bioware’s Mass Effect: Legendary Edition and many more.
BSG is also developing its own original IP, called Cosmorons. Inspired by old-school sci-fi, the game combines arcade survivor shooter gameplay with an innovative movement system to deliver endless excitement.
Blind Squirrel Games’ Future
Blind Squirrel Games combines small studio values with big studio ambitions, cultivating a diverse, collaborative, and creative environment that promotes employee growth and well-being. Their mission is to provide knowledge and experience so our partners can deliver high-quality entertainment.
The new studio in Manizales, Colombia, will initially focus on co-development, with plans to grow to 25-30 employees by 2025.
The acquisition also enhances Blind Squirrel’s creative capabilities, particularly through the integration of its proprietary AI tool for Unreal Engine. This tool is designed to improve project efficiency and streamline development, helping the company deliver high-quality game experiences while optimizing resources.
The addition of the Colombian studio is part of Blind Squirrel’s strategy to continue scaling its development efforts and tapping into new talent pools globally.
