Com2uS Platform’s Seonho Shin on Hive Connect: LiveOps to Partnerships

In this interview, Seonho Shin explains why Com2uS Platform launched Hive Connect, how the program facilitates developer–publisher matchmaking based on operational readiness, and what early outcomes are already emerging in multi-region deals.

To start, could you briefly introduce Com2uS Platform and Hive SDK?

Com2uS Platform is the organization behind the global live operations of games within the Com2uS Group.

We develop and operate Hive SDK, a LiveOps infrastructure that covers core elements required for global game services — including accounts and authentication, cross-platform support, analytics, and live operations tools.

Hive SDK has been used across all Com2uS Group titles for many years, proving its stability and effectiveness in real global service environments. Based on those results, we began offering Hive SDK to external developers and publishers in 2021.

Today, more than 100 global developers and publishers operate over 250 titles worldwide using Hive SDK, across both mobile and PC platforms.

Game studios powered by Hive

Hive SDK is already a well-established LiveOps solution. Why did you feel the need to launch Hive Connect?

While expanding Hive SDK internationally, we kept encountering the same situation.
Technical conversations around LiveOps often evolved into discussions about publishing, regional expansion, and partnerships.

Many developers are technically ready for global operations, but lack the right publishing connections in each region. At the same time, publishers are actively looking for new titles, yet it’s not always easy to access projects that are truly ready for live service. Over the years, we found ourselves informally bridging that gap through our SDK business.

Eventually, it became clear that this role shouldn’t rely on personal networks alone — it needed a more structured and official approach. That’s where Hive Connect came from.

How would you describe Hive Connect as a program?

Hive Connect is a program that structures the global network built around Hive SDK and facilitates real business connections between developers and publishers.

It’s not simply about introductions. Because we understand each project’s technical readiness and LiveOps structure through Hive SDK, we can help publishers review projects more realistically. Connections are made based on both operational feasibility and business potential.

Developers submit basic project information, while publishers receive anonymized project details. Com2uS Platform remains involved throughout the process, acting as an intermediary to support the connection.

Key metrics improved with Hive

Since launching Hive Connect officially, have there been any notable outcomes?

Yes, and some of them came surprisingly quickly.

One recent example involved a France-based publisher expanding its publishing reach into Korea and Latin America.

The relationship initially started with technical discussions around Hive SDK. Through Hive Connect, this evolved into concrete publishing partnerships in Korea, followed by additional connections in the Latin American market. As a result, a multi-regional publishing structure took shape.

What stood out was how much faster things moved once these discussions were handled through an official program rather than informal conversations. It clearly showed that Hive Connect can turn regional expansion ideas into something actionable.

Voices from the industry

Is Hive Connect only available to existing Hive SDK customers?

We do prioritize Hive SDK users, simply because we already understand their projects’ operational structure and readiness.

That said, the goal of Hive Connect isn’t short-term SDK sales. It’s about building a sustainable framework for global game business connections. In many cases, Hive SDK becomes a natural choice as those collaborations move forward, but the focus remains on long-term partnerships.

What role do you see Hive Connect playing going forward?

Hive Connect has helped clarify our role.

We see Com2uS Platform not just as a technology provider, but as a business enabler — helping games move from being technically ready to becoming viable global businesses.

We continue to onboard new projects from developers worldwide and are actively exploring opportunities across regions, platforms, and genres through Hive Connect.
