It’s been three years since Nintendo launched Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield, and the new titles bring many changes to the traditional gameplay of Pokémon games. Violet and Scarlet are the first iterations that present an open-world setting where players can explore freely.

The game did receive mixed reviews with a myriad of complaints from players, though. Most of the users commented that although Pokémon Violet and Scarlet are fun games, their current state is glitchy and buggy, creating a dissatisfying gameplay experience. Players spoke about the game’s condition not being on par with a AAA title and even asked for refunds for their online copies.

Pokémon Violet and Scarlet also did pretty well on the UK market, taking the crown in revenue total compared to its predecessors in its first two days. The titles allow players to go through a non-linear story by letting them choose which gym to tackle first.

Nintendo attempted to create a more social gaming experience with these games, with various multiplayer modes that support up to four players. Users will be allowed to trade and battle Pokémon, along with more casual activities like group map exploration.
