Pyro Games was established in August 2021 and focused on hyper-casual and hybrid-casual mobile games for ten months before the success of its previous games allowed it to direct its efforts to the PC games industry. The company recently released a trailer for its Souls-like, Action-RPG game, Dawn of Shadow.
Pyro Games’ Founder and Senior Game Developer Aras Aydoğan said,
“We brought together different mechanics and designs that we saw and liked in different games. This allowed us to create a game design that is marketable and well-known enough to resonate with a wide audience, but unique enough to stand out on its own.
We prioritized satisfying action and game design. We’re aware that making a good game is possible by having good gameplay because we’ve all played games with good gameplay for thousands of hours during our 25 years of being gamers.”
Pyro Games’ team also stated that before the company focused on the mobile industry, it tried to make a multiplayer, arena PC game with a medieval theme, but the lack of funds caused their attempt to fail.
Senior Game Artist Demircan Yiğit Öney added,
“After creating several art tests for the game, we decided that the best art style for a Souls-like aRPG is a realistic style. Our goal is to create a unique game that is beyond industry standards. Our team has the technical and artistic experience to accomplish this. While the Unity engine does cause some issues at certain points, it is possible to create good and optimized graphics with it. We use shaders we developed, our own tools, and Unity’s HDRP technology to achieve that.”
Pyro Games also added that there is a serious gap in the game engine department for the PC industry, and stated that it was planning to form a second development team to create its own game engine according to its own needs and develop its next game using that.
The Souls-like Action RPG Dawn of Shadow will release on Steam as an early access title, in March 2023, for a planned price of $15.
