Quantic Dream recently announced its dystopic sci-fi title, Detroit: Become Human, sold 2.5 million units on PC and over 8 million copies globally on all platforms. The company stated that these stats exclude copies obtained with subscription services.
Detroit: Become Human was widely praised for its storytelling by critics and gamers alike. The title received over 60,000 reviews on Steam, with 93% of them being positive.
Aside from its developer endeavours, Quantic Dream started working as a publisher to support other studios in 2019. The company supports video game creation and independent creators and primarily seeks originality. Quantic Dream assists the studios by bringing expertise, means of production, financing and access to international markets.
Guillaume de Fondaumière, Co-CEO of Quantic Dream, commented on the company’s repeated success:
“2022 was remarkable for Quantic Dream. We achieved a significant increase in sales of our three historical PC games compared to 2021, an unusual phenomenon which builds on the already excellent sales results recorded in the previous three years.
“The continued success of Detroit: Become Human, but also of Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls, is due to the quality of these titles, their enduring appeal to PC gamers, as well as the thorough and long-term work of our publishing team. We are delighted to introduce our works to an ever wider and younger audience on all continents. At the end of 2022, we also saw a record level of wishlisting on these three titles, which gives us hope for an equally exceptional 2023.”
Last year, Chinese gaming giant NetEase acquired the French game developer and publisher. The company stated that it joined NetEase Games, the games division of NetEase, to accelerate its vision of creating landmark titles that redefine the interactive entertainment experience for players worldwide.
