Supercell Co-Founder backs Potion8’s debut title Goblin’s Die

Potion8, a seven-person indie studio based in Turku, Finland, is preparing to launch its next Steam title, Goblin’s Die, a 1–5 player online co-op action-adventure RPG.

Potion8’s Creative Director and Co-founder, Janne Kodisoja, has been developing the idea behind Goblin’s Die for years. In his version of fantasy, goblins – usually treated as expendable enemies – become the heart of the story: scrappy, flawed, resourceful, and constantly improvising.

“Goblin’s Die flips the traditional RPG power fantasy on its head.

Instead of legendary heroes, you’re a bunch of goblins trying to survive, mess things up, fix them again – and somehow pull it off together.

There’s plenty of tongue-in-cheek humor, but it’s built on real co-op systems where teamwork matters – and everything you bring back helps the Hive evolve.”

In Goblin’s Die, players step into the boots of scrappy workers sent to recover the shattered pieces of a mystical artefact – not because they’re heroes, but because someone has to do the dangerous jobs.

Instead of fixed roles, goblins become whatever their gear turns them into – leading to oddball builds and chaotic co-op synergies. Everything dragged back feeds into the growing Hive, unlocking new tech and altering what future runs look like.

Supercell Co-Founder, investor, and advisor Mikko Kodisoja says it was the team’s focus, execution, and the strength of the vision that convinced him to get involved.

“Janne and I have played games together since we were kids, and Goblin’s Die reflects that shared love of action and RPGs.

What really stands out is how nimble the Potion8 team is – testing ideas, improving systems, and responding to player feedback while still trusting their instincts.

Launch is only the beginning.”
