Top Games achieves 12-fold revenue from Evony: The King’s Return thanks to Flexion

Top Games Inc. has seen revenue for Evony: The King’s Return increase by more than 12 times on the Amazon Appstore since the company handed over distribution in the alternative app stores to Flexion.

Top Games Inc. is a games developer focusing on the US market. In January, Evony: The King’s Return generated approximately $14 million in Google Play. The company initially self-published the game but decided to outsource operations, promotions, and user acquisition to Flexion after relaunching the game in Amazon Appstore in October 2021. Besides launching the game in alternative app stores, Flexion managed to increase the game’s revenue by 12 times.

Flexion specializes in game distribution and marketing in alternative app stores like Amazon Appstore through its distribution and influencer marketing services. The company also handles technical requirements, updates, user acquisition, platform relations, and promotions. Audiences for the game have increased almost four times on Amazon alone since Flexion has taken over the operations.

 Jens Lauritzson, Flexion CEO says:

“Top Games can do everything we do for themselves; it’s just that it doesn’t make economic sense. We have around 100 people working on the success of each game and have spent years developing services and platform relations. That gives us a huge advantage when it comes to generating revenue.”

Lauritzson also remarks that supporting the game with continuous updates and new content is crucial to the game’s success. It builds a loyal fanbase and improves retention, which is a significant factor in increasing in-app purchases. He adds that thanks to outsourcing to Flexion, Top Games had the opportunity to shift its focus to these aspects of the game.

CEO at Top Games, David Guo, says:

“The extra revenue is adding to the game’s overall success. When we handed over managing the alternative distribution to Flexion, we freed our people up. But we have also been delighted to see the scale of audiences that Flexion has reached for us and the boost in revenue they have achieved”.

According to Flexion, other success factors have been Evony: The King’s Return being one of the first Android games on Windows 11 thanks to Amazon’s deal with Microsoft on the Windows Subsystem for Android. Flexion has also been promoting the game on Amazon Fire devices, and with Amazon and Top Games, it developed special features for Prime Day promotions.
