Hyper-casual subgenre arcade idle games were first introduced by Homa in 2020 and have seen success since then. Homa recently made a case study about arcade idle games and their current status in the hyper-casual gaming market. As the study and recent research show, they seem to be here to stay.

Research made by Sensor Tower and Homa shows that the arcade idle genre grew by 2050% in just a year. In 2021, arcade idle games have gotten 47.3 million downloads across Google Play and App Store. This shows that the number of downloads has increased by 2050% between Q4 2020 and Q1 2022. However, the difference in downloads between Q1 2022 and Q1 2021 is just 294.3% which is still an impressive growth.
In the same period, Hyper-casual games had 13.7 billion downloads and grew 15.2%.
China, the world’s biggest gaming market has seen unbelievable 14500% growth. Other countries that had the most total downloads were India, Russia, Vietnam, and Brazil.
Other metrics in the arcade idle genre is also impressive. According to Homa’s research, arcade idle games have seen CPI (consumer price index) of 40 cents, 5 cents higher than the maximum for hyper-casual games. Day 1 retention rates are at 35% while the top 20 arcade idle games have D1 Retention between 48% and 52%.
The top five game themes for arcade idle by downloads were farming, sandbox, battle creatures, cooking, and digging mining.
Few weeks ago Homa Games rebranded to “Homa” and changes its visual identity along the way to reflect better its new goals in the video gaming space.
