Berlin-based project management platform Codecks has announced securing €1 million in funding, comprising a €700,000 grant from the European Union’s Creative Europe MEDIA program and an additional €300,000 investment from the company itself.
This financial boost is set to accelerate Codecks’ expansion and innovation within the game development industry.
Founded in 2019 by Riad Djemili, co-founder of indie game company Maschinen-Mensch, and lead developer Daniel Berndt, Codecks has grown to serve over 60,000 users across tens of thousands of studios and organizations, including notable names like Unity, GRAVITY, Warpfrog, Toukana Interactive, and Free Lives.
The platform’s unique approach, inspired by collectible card games, offers a playful and adaptable project and community management tool tailored specifically for game developers.
Future goals for Codecks
With this investment, the team plans to develop and implement new features, significantly expanding the platform’s capabilities while maintaining accessibility for teams of all sizes. The company remains committed to its original vision: assisting game developers in transforming their ideas into games through a user-friendly and engaging project management tool.
Recent developments in the company include the hiring of Gonçalo Trindade, the former Marketing Lead at PlaytestCloud, as the new Head of Marketing. This signaled the company’s dedication to strengthening its market presence and community engagement.
As Codecks continues to evolve, the company emphasizes its commitment to listening to user feedback and addressing the challenges faced by the game development community.
Codecks team shared the news on their site and finished their blog post with the following statement:
As a conclusion: thank you for using our tool, for allowing us to do what we do, and, most of all, for making the games we love. We’re happy to have you on this ride and we promise: the best is yet to come.
