Netmarble appointed a new Co-CEO

South Korea’s largest mobile game developer, Netmarble, announced that it will appoint Byung Gyu Kim as the new CEO along with Young-sig Kwon.

South Korean mobile game developer Netmarble is undergoing a strategic shift with the nomination of Byung Gyu Kim as its new co-CEO. Currently serving as Vice President and overseeing crucial aspects of business planning, Kim’s nomination awaits official approval at the upcoming shareholders’ meeting scheduled for March.

With a diverse skill set encompassing legal expertise, overseas affiliate management, and strategic planning, Kim, in his 40s, is anticipated to contribute significantly to Netmarble’s trajectory of change and growth.

Upon approval, Kim will assume the co-CEO role alongside Young-sig Kwon, the Chief Business Officer. Netmarble, renowned for developing and publishing high-quality global games, expressed confidence in Kim’s ability to bring fresh perspectives and navigate the company through new phases of development. Kim, born in 1974 and a law graduate from Seoul National University, has been an integral part of Netmarble since 2015, joining the company after a notable stint at Samsung C&T.

Kim has actively contributed to various facets of Netmarble Corp. throughout his tenure, demonstrating his capabilities in strategic planning, legal affairs, policy formulation, and overseas affiliate management. The decision to elevate him to the co-CEO position is seen as a strategic move to leverage his multifaceted expertise in steering Netmarble through the dynamic landscape of the game industry. The shareholders’ meeting in March is expected to solidify this transition, marking a new chapter in Netmarble’s leadership structure.
