A developer blog post was also recently shared, detailing that hero balance changes will not occur until the second season kicks off. In the post, the team also apologized for a bug in the ranking system. A future patch containing another fix for fair gameplay was also mentioned in the blog.

Mike Ybarra, President of Blizzard Entertainment, shared thoughts and comments about the success of Overwatch 2:

“The launch of Overwatch 2 has been such an important moment for Blizzard. We’re thrilled to bring new players from around the world into Overwatch’s vibrant universe while welcoming back the existing Blizzard community. This is only the beginning, there are so many possibilities to explore in the world of Overwatch, and we cannot wait for players to experience everything the team is building for the live game.”

The game had many issues during the initial launch, including server errors, connectivity issues, SMS requirements for logging in, and several DDOS attacks. Blizzard released a public apology for the Overwatch 2 launch issues and stated that the team will continue listening to player feedback to keep the game in the best condition possible.
